First Scout Meeting, 14th January 2012

By Scribe Brandon Khaw

Hooray! It’s the first scout meeting of the year! We gathered at the kid zone in the new Henry Park campus.

“Beep…beep beep…beep beep” there goes the signal for all of us to gather for horse-shoe. Hey, that’s weird where is the flag pole? At this moment we could not find the flag pole for the scout flag, so we would have to do without it for now. After the usual procedures, we gathered in Indian file and Akela gave us a ‘briefing’ on the scout log…… and he stressed the importance of submitting the scout log every week. Soon we were in our sixer’s corner to update our particulars. Then comes the fun part! We were brought to the field to play a game. We were supposed to use one of our hands to hold into to one of our foot and ‘attack’ the opponent. The first person that falls or surrenders becomes the other person’s prisoner, the team with the most people wins! “Beep” blew the whistle. Everyone starts to charge at each other. For some of the scouts it was a rather tough game because their opponent was bigger than them. While we were playing happily the whistle sounded again. Now it was time to challenge the ‘champion’, who was an ex-Pelican Sixer, Jinh Wann. I thought I better not volunteer for this as I don’t want to be injured. Almost all who tried was knocked out except for the few strong ones. Not long after, it was almost 11o’clock. Today we were ending early because there was a briefing for the parents of the new recruits.

Sadly another exhilarating scout meeting has ended. I really look forward to the next one.
