Fun with Macaroni

This was the first meeting for the cubs under the new Sixers! To start off the meeting, Akela broke the unit up into 4 groups, and each group had to stand in a circle, and going clockwise, remembering every cub's name. Those who started first had it easy as they only had to remember the ones before them. By the time it got to the last cub, he/she had to remember up to 20 cubs' name. Now that's a real challenge!! After everyone had known each other better, it was time to have fun with Macaroni! Raksha distributed 2 packets of shell and spiral pasta, together with 2 vanguard sheets, a box of water colours and some brushes. Akela's instructions were for each Six to make up the Scout Promise using the macaroni/pasta, and to design something relating to scouts on the other vanguard sheet. Everyone started excitedly in their littel Six's corners, and soon the sound of pasta crushing was heard as some cubs started to break up the pasta by crushing them! Water colours were splashed as well as the cubs ran wild with their imagination. The ex-Senior Sixers and Sixers joined in as well, and produced a wonderful Sixers United poster. The 2 new Senior Sixers created a Pelican head made of coloured pasta. Soon all the posters were collected, and though none managed to reproduce the Scout Promise in full, the cubs efforts were rewarded with various points scored for each Six.
