Sixer Training Camp 2013 - Day 1, 6th July 2013

By 7.30am, all 32 cubs who had been chosen to attend our very own Sixer Training Camp assembled in 3 groups, Elephant, Giraffe and Hippo. After a short briefing and collection of the camp fees, cubs bid farewell to their parents and boarded the waiting bus to Terror Sea Scout Camp, their home for the next 3 days.

Upon arrival at the campsite, Bagheera briefed the cubs the camp rules to ensure their safety and well-being. He also stressed that this is a training camp and cubs are expected to work hard.

Next, cubs were taught the Grand Howl / Flag Break followed by setting up their "home" for their stay. They were grateful to have the 23rd Eagle Scouts and the service scouts (consisting ex-pelican scouts and current P6 pelican scouts) guiding them else many cubs will end up "homeless"!

Cubs were also taught the quality of a leader, role and duties of a sixer, footdrill, knotting and starting fire on Day 1. The highlight of Day 1 had to be the 10km hike! The hike started at about 4.15pm and cubs only returned to the campsite at 8pm. It was surely not an easy hike but all cubs persevered and completed the hike. Well done cubs!!

After dinner, cubs wash up, attended debrief and most were off to do their personal reflection for Day 1 while duty senior sixers, duty sixers, duty assistant sixers and Akela Award aspirants attended sixer council.
