The Pelican Scouts mission is to provide a safe, fun and exciting programme, based on the Jungle Book, for young children to become responsible and considerate individuals through the Scout Promise and Law.

Sister Group

29th October 2011

1st. Morley Scout Group, Perth, Australia

It all started in November 2007, when Pelican Cubs visited Perth Australia on our annual excursion. On the way to Manjedal Scout Camp, one bus (we had 2 buses) broke down, while the other bus made camp in good time. By the time a replacement bus arrived and brought the other half of the contingent to camp, everyone was starving. The weather was also unusually cold.

We had a rude shock when we found out that our caterers were not expecting us till the next day. There was apparently a miscommunication. More shock was to come. We were not prepared with sleeping bags and covers!

Morley Scout Leaders sprang into action, rounded up as much beddings and sleeping bags as they could, while our caterers had pizza ordered in. The Cubs were thrilled. (I'm told the pizzeria closed for the rest of the year, having hit their quota in one night)

Barbara and Diamond were not only great cooks, they were great entertainers as well. And so began our friendship with the 1st Morley Scout Group.

Today, we officially commemorate our Bonds of Friendship and Brotherhood of Scouting with the exchange of flags and signing the Memorandum of Understanding.
